The new gallery houses a large selection of fine paintings, including works by Old Masters including Titian and Van Dyck. An integral part of the project was blending modern and traditional materials, methods, and craftsmanship to create a contemporary but traditional space. With no existing access between floors, Portview’s initial key focus was to ensure the best possible location for a new stairwell to be cut through the building. The result is a great success with its beautiful travertine stone wall cascading from the ground floor ceiling to the basement floor, drawing the eye through the space.
